This is a self-portrait. My intention for this piece was to create a dynamic, interesting and contemporary portrait. I used the square layout to give the look of an Instagram picture.
My concept was to turn the instant gratification of an Instagram “Selfie” and turn it into fine art. I would describe my style as “Urban Portraiture” and I primarily work in watercolour and coloured pencil.
Nathan Dixon was (B: 1983) in Toronto, Canada. He was raised in Jamaica and returned to Toronto at age 12.
He studied Textile Design at Sheridan College Art & Design School. After a couple of years he realized that this was not the right path for him and left in 2003. In 2004 he attended George Brown College for Fashion Design and graduated in 2006.
The past few years he has been designing Jewellery and exhibiting his art under his own brand name Nathan Dixon Art (Formerly Nate.Inc Designs). He is currently working as a freelance artist and designer.
